If you are looking for a super-easy one skillet meal to prepare this is one of our favorites. This ground turkey skillet is perfect for a family meal and will be enjoyed by everyone at the table including the pickiest eaters.

What Ingredients Do I Need to Make this Ground Turkey Skillet Dinner?

  • Ground turkey
  • Rotini Pasta
  • Olive Oil
  • Dried basil
  • Garlic powder
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Tomato sauce
  • Tomato paste
  • Shredded Mozzarella cheese

How to Make This Skillet Turkey Recipe with Pasta?

Brown ground turkey in a little bit of olive oil. Sprinkle with garlic powder and salt and pepper as it cooks. Stir in the rest of the ingredients minus cheese and pasta. Bring to a light boil, add the pasta and stir until all of the pasta is coated. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring once or twice during cooking time. Uncover and sprinkle with cheese! Enjoy!

Yummy Cheesy Ground Turkey with Pasta and Tomatoes

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 1/4 cups water
  • 2 cups Rotini pasta
  • 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
Instructions
  1. Brown ground turkey in a skillet breaking up turkey with a spatual as it cooks. Sprinkle ground turkey with garlic powder, salt and pepper turkey while it cooks.
  2. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste and basil to the skillet. Slowy stir in the water and bring to a light boil.
  3. Add pasta to the pan and stir until all the pasta is well coated. Cover and let cook for about 10 minutes, stirring once during cooking time.
  4. Remove lid and sprinkle with cheese.

Any recipe that can be cooked in just one pot or one skillet is a time saver as far as cooking and also for clean up.

Can I use Ground Beef Instead of Ground Turkey?

You can definitely use a lean ground beef for this recipe as well. Just add a little bit of olive oil to brown the meat and then make sure you drain off any grease after browning. As normal, always make sure you lightly salt and pepper the meat while browning.

One Pot! We love that this recipe turns out perfectly using just one pot. Not only is this a super-tasty dinner, but it’s also an easy to prepare and an easy to clean up meal!

What Type of Ground Turkey Should I use?

We prefer using a ground turkey blend with just a little bit of fat for flavor.  Perfect ground turkey to use is 94% fat instead of fat free. If you prefer a 99% fat-free ground turkey, just add a little extra olive oil to the pan while browning to keep it moist. Try not to use ground turkey breast for this recipe, use a combination of white meat and dark meat.

What Type of Pasta to Use for this Skillet Recipe?

We always use Barilla Rotini Pasta. It has a very short cook time and works perfectly in a one-pot skillet recipe like this one.
