We love this yummy Holiday Honey Baked Ham for Easter or for any holiday.  You start with a precooked spiral ham and add pineapple and brown sugar to make a delicious blend of flavors that goes perfectly with a holiday ham. Follow along as we bake the perfect ham for your holiday.

Easter is a great time to make this honey ham with brown sugar and pineapple, but honestly any holiday is perfect for this ham recipe that is not only savory, but makes a beautiful presentation on your dinner table or buffet.

Let’s get Started:

Ingredients Needed for a Juicy Easter Spiral Ham

  • Bone-in spiral honey baked ham  – Always buy the pre-cooked ham.  Average half-ham is about 6-7 lbs.
  • Pineapple slices (with juice) with or without sugar, both work just fine.
  • Brown sugar – both dark and light brown sugar will work.

How to Make a Holiday Ham with Pineapple and Brown Sugar

  • Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Remove the packaging from the pre-cooked ham and place it in a oven safe casserole dish.
  • Open the can of pineapple slices and place the slices between the slices of ham. Then pour the juice from the can over it.
  • Rub the brown sugar evenly over the pineapple slices and ham. You can adjust the amount of brown sugar based on your sweetness preference.
  • Cover the ham with aluminum foil and let it cook for 1.5 hours in the oven. The cooking time may vary depending on the size of the ham. You want the ham to heat through and the flavors to meld.
  • Check the ham periodically. You can baste it with the juices that collect in the dish to ensure it stays moist and flavorful.
  • If your ham came with a glaze package, you could mix this with a few tablespoons of the pineapple juice, mix it and glaze the ham with it.
  • About 15-30 minutes before the cooking time is up, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. The ham is ready when it reaches 140°F (60°C).
  • Slice the ham and serve it with the pineapple slices.

How Long to Cook a Pre-Cooked Spiral Ham

  • Remember that cooking times may vary based on the the ham’s size, so adjust accordingly.
However, as a general guideline, the recommended cooking time for a pre-cooked spiral ham is typically around 10-15 minutes per pound at 325°F (163°C).

How to Store Leftover Holiday Ham

  • Always allow the leftover ham to cool to room temperature for about 2 hours. If you have a large ham, consider slicing the meat to help it cool faster.
  • Once the ham has cooled, refrigerate the leftover ham promptly. Place it in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Refrigerate within two hours of cooking. Leftover ham can typically be refrigerated for 3-4 days.
  • If you don’t plan to use the leftover ham within a few days, consider freezing it. Wrap the ham tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, place it in a freezer-safe container, and label with the date. Frozen ham can maintain quality for 1-2 months.
  • When heating leftover ham, ensure it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to reheat safely. Reheat ham in the oven, microwave, or on the stovetop, depending on your preference.

Since the ham is already cooked, the goal is to heat it through and infuse it with the flavors of pineapple and brown sugar. The slow cooker helps to achieve this while keeping the ham moist and tender.
