We know that everyone loves this lemony chicken recipe, but what is the best side dish for Chicken Picatta?  What to serve with one of your favorite chicken recipes!  Chicken Picatta is just packed full of flavor and one of easiest chicken dishes to prepare, so we need a side that will blend easily with so much flavor.

Top Pick – PASTA! Since Chicken Picatta always has a light lemon sauce cooked with the chicken, our first pick for best side dish would be pasta! Soak up that yummy sauce with a side dish of your favorite pasta.

What are The Best Side Dishes for Chicken Picatta?

1. Pasta – small pasta or spaghetti noodles

Most types of pasta from Penne pasta to Angel hair pasta will make for a delicious side dish for your chicken picatta. Prepare the pasta as your chicken is cooking on the stove and it will be ready with the chicken. Cook and drain pasta and put back in the same pan.  Add some butter to the pasta and a little salt and pepper after it has been drained. You can also add some shredded Parmesan cheese for even more flavor.

2. Mashed Potatoes

We love serving mashed potatoes as a perfect side dish for lemony Chicken Picatta.  Potatoes along with a little bit of salted butter and some of that amazing lemony sauce will make your comfort food cravings go into overdrive. 5. Fresh Asparagus

Fresh asparagus goes nicely with all Chicken Picatta recipes because it’s a crisp and flavorful vegetable when cooked properly. How to cook your fresh asparagus spears?  Wash asparagus and break off the tough ends. Place on a baking sheet an drizzle with a good olive oil and toss to coat. Drizzle with lemon and bake in a hot 425 degree oven for about 15 – 20 minutes.  Sprikle with grated parmesan cheese if desired.

6. Rice

Rice is an excellent choice for a side dish for your favorite Picatta recipe. There are so many delicious variations of rice dishes to choose from, but our favorite would be rice cooked in chicken broth with a little butter and then sauteed spinach added for added taste and important nutrients like Vitamin C and A.  Just cook 3 cups of baby spinach in 1 tablespoon of olive oil in skillet with a tight-fitting lid. Add 1 cup of rice and 2 cups of chicken broth. Bring to a light boil, reduce heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Cover and cook for about 18 minutes or until rice is tender.

Green Bean almondine is one of our favorite and tasty green bean recipes to serve with chicken, beef or pork dishes.

Another great way to add your delicious bean fiber to your diet is to cook (frozen) whole green beans until thawed and then sauté drained beans in a little fresh garlic with butter and lemon. Sauteed garlic green beans are easy to prepare and makes a super-delicious side dish.

Another great side dish made with green beans would be a green bean casserole.
