How to Make Ground Turkey Meatballs
Simple Ground Turkey Meatballs in Sauce
- 1 lb. ground turkey (do not buy the super lean)
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon cream or milk
Mix all ingredients in a medium-sized bowl and form into meatballs. You should end up with about 14 meatballs. The best way to make meatballs is by using a small ice cream scoop. Every meatball should be the same size so they cook evenly.
Best Tomato Sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic, diced fine
- 1 (28 0z.) can crushed tomatoes (don’t substitute)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Using a large skillet with a lid, saute garlic in butter and olive oil until garlic is tender. Add crushed tomatoes to the skillet. Rinse out tomato can with 1/2 cup of water and stir into the skillet. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir to combine. Add meatballs to the skillet and bring to a light boil. Cover; reduce heat to a light bubble simmer and cook for 20 minutes, stirring meatballs halfway through cooking. Remove from heat and let sit for one minute.
Melt butter with the olive oil and saute the garlic.
Add the rest of the ingredients to the skillet and stir.
Toss in those ground turkey meatballs and cook for 20 minutes.
