The Best Baked Eggs

How to make The Best Baked Eggs in the Oven

Did you know that baked eggs are also called shirred eggs?  As our beloved Julia Child made wildly popular back in the 60’s with The French Chef episode called “Elegant Eggs.”

One of the best ways to make delicious family-friendly eggs is to bake them right in your oven!

Baked eggs are perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner and can normally be made using ingredients you always have on hand.

But baked eggs do go very well with Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Making the basic baked eggs is actually very simple and once you’ve experimented with cooking times, you can create your own perfect baked eggs every time.

Basic Baked Eggs

  • 1 ramekin dish
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 2 eggs
  • salt & pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cream

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Lightly grease  ramekin dish with butter.  Gently crack two eggs into the dish.  Salt & pepper eggs to your liking.  Pour 1 tablespoon of cream around the eggs.

Place ramekin dish on a cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes.  If you like your eggs a little firmer, bump the oven up to 375 degrees and cook for about 3 more minutes.
