Skin on or Skin Off

Should you leave skin on or skin off of the salmon? We prefer to always leave the salmon skin on. It’s much easier to remove after the salmon has been cooked, but the skin is actually very nutritious and can be eaten.

Mix together the marinade ingredients and then spread on top of the salmon. Let the honey mustard salmon spend 15 – 20 minutes marinating on your kitchen counter before baking.

How Long Can Cooked Salmon Stay in the Fridge?

Salmon that has been cooked can be stored in the fridge for about 3-4 days.  Just make sure to store in an airtight container.

How Long to Bake Salmon at 400?

Typically baking salmon at 400 degrees is about 15 minutes.  This is based on a 1″ thick piece of fish. If fish pieces are thicker, they may need a longer cook time. The recommended temperature for seafood is 145 degrees to be on the safe side. Fish should be cooked through or to the correct temperature.

How Long Can Salmon Stay in the Fridge Uncooked?

Unfortunately, uncooked salmon can only stay safely in the fridge for about 2 days. If you decide you can’t eat it right away, then put it in the freezer.  Seal salmon in a freezer bag so it is easier to defrost when ready to cook.

What is the Healthiest Salmon to Buy

From Sockeye, Coho, King and Atlantic Salmon, how to know which is the healthiest to buy? Experts agree it is the Pacific salmon called King salmon. If you are looking for a good deal on healthy salmon, try Trader Joes Sockeye salmon.

Farm Raised Salmon or Wild Caught?

We typically like to cook with wild caught salmon vs farm raised. Wild salmon is lower in calories and saturated fat.  Farm raised salmon can have different practices from farm to farm.

Atlantic Salmon vs Pacific Salmon

Most of our salmon now comes from the Pacific Ocean vs. the Atlantic so don’t be confused by this. The Atlantic salmon is now endangered and is almost always farmed raised.
