- Your Favorite Jar of Ragu Spaghetti Sauce – we love the original pasta sauce
- Onion – yellow onions works best
- Garlic Cloves – use fresh cloves or jarred garlic
- Olive Oil – extra virgin olive oil
- Spaghetti – we love thin spaghetti or Vermicelli pasta
- Parmesan Cheese – Shredded Parmesan cheese is great, but so is the grated cheese. Also, a grated or shredded Parmigiano Reggiano is a great choice for all pasta dishes.
How to Make this Delicious spaghetti with ground beef and a Jar of Ragu Sauce
How to Cook the Spaghetti: (quickly make the sauce while the spaghetti is cooking.)
- Fill a medium pot about 3/4 of the way with water. Add salt to taste. Start with 2 teaspoons. Add more salt to the water if desired.
- Bring the water to a rolling boil. Add pasta and stir for at least a full minute so the pasta does not stick.
- Turn the heat down to medium-high and cook according to package directions times. Typically about 10-12 minutes.
- Drain the spaghetti well and put the cooked spaghetti back in the same pot. You can add a little oil to prevent it from sticking.
- If you won’t be eating the spaghetti right away, you can rinse the spaghetti in cold water before putting back in the pan so it won’t stick.
How to Make the Ragu Spaghetti Sauce:
- Turn heat to medium-high and add the olive oil to a large skillet.
- Add the chopped onions and garlic to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the onions are soft.
- Add the ground beef and cook, chopping the beef up with a spatula as it browns. Salt & pepper beef as it cooks.
- Once the ground beef is cooked through and there is not pink left, drain any grease.
- Stir in the jar of Ragu sauce. Simmer for about 5-10 minutes.
Cook beef until there is no pink left. You can drain any grease before adding the jar of Ragu.
You don’t have to let the sauce simmer. You can serve the spaghetti as soon as the cooked beef is mixed with the Ragu. Just heat through and mix with the pasta or serve the sauce over the pasta.
