Easy Creamed Spinach Recipe

This is a great recipe for your family dinner table and also your Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner table. Creamed spinach is a great side dish to serve for the holidays because it’s delicious and not something that is made frequently. All of your holiday guests will enjoy this yummy, creamed spinach recipe.

What Ingredients Are Needed for Creamed Spinach

  • Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • Butter
  • Fresh Baby spinach
  • Heavy cream
  • Cream cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt and Pepper

How to Make Keto Creamed Spinach

  1. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Gradually add the spinach and sauté briefly just until it wilts. Continue until all the spinach has been added and wilted down. Do not overcook.
  2. Add the heavy cream, cream cheese, and garlic powder. Season with salt and black pepper, to taste, and stir to combine. Heat, stirring frequently, until the cream cheese melts completely, and the mixture is heated through.
  3. Remove from heat and serve immediately with your choice of main dishes. Enjoy!

  • 12 cups baby spinach, chopped
  • 8 oz. cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened and cut into small chunks
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

How to Soften Your Cream Cheese

Leave the cream cheese out of the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before using to soften for this recipe. It’s easy to work with softened cream cheese.

How to Buy Fresh Spinach

When buying fresh spinach, try to purchase organic if possible. Buy a little more than you need because fresh spinach needs trimmed of the stalks or stems before cooking. This will decrease the weight by a few ounces. Make sure the spinach is bright green and not wilted.  Wash spinach thoroughly and let dry. You can also put freshly washed spinach through a salad spinner to dry.

Can You Use Frozen Spinach for This Recipe

You can always substitute frozen spinach. Make sure the spinach has been thawed and as much of the water pressed out as possible.  One (10 oz) package of frozen spinach is the equivalent to 1 lb. of fresh spinach.
