Baked Lima Beans for Christmas and Thanksgiving Dinner
There is always that one “famous” holiday dish that makes it to the table year after year. It becomes so famous that the holidays would not seem quite right without it. Well here is one of those dishes!
Baked lima beans with cheese and bacon – holiday delicious!
If you want people to talk about you when you leave Thanksgiving or Christmas Dinner, make these lima beans and become Holiday Famous. You will get invited back year after year and your beans will become a legend.

You will delight your guests during the Holidays with this delicious baked lima bean dish.
- 2 10 oz. packages of frozen lima beans
- 8-10 slices raw bacon diced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup celery, chopped
- 1-1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- Dash of Worcestershire sauce

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cook lima beans in salted water for 15 minutes; drain, reserving 1/2 cup of cooking liquid.

In a large nonstick skillet, fry diced bacon until about half cooked.

With a slotted spoon, remove bacon to paper towels to drain; discard all but 2 tablespoons of grease.

Cook onion and celery in bacon grease until softened.

In a large bowl, toss together lima beans, onion, celery, cheese, a little bit of the cooked bacon, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and reserved cooking liquid.

Turn into a lightly greased 2-quart casserole.

Sprinkle top with the rest of the bacon.

Bake uncovered for about 20, or until top is browned. Remove and serve immediately.
