YUMMY – Family Friendly White Rice Cooked with Corn and Bits of Ham
We love side dishes that start with Instant Rice because they are so easy to prepare and always turn out delicious. Try this white rice cooked with corn recipe that has bits of ham for even more flavor.
This corn recipe takes about 10 minutes from start to finish and is very flavorful with the addition of the bits of cooked ham in butter.
What Ingredients Do I need For this Rice and Corn Dish?
- Instant Rice
- Butter
- Diced Ham
- Corn
- Chicken Broth
Saute the Corn and Ham in Butter. Lightly salt and pepper as it cooks. You can use any type of ham that has been cubed.
Ham – you can use leftover ham or ham sliced thick from the deli counter. You would need about 1/4 lb. for 1 cub of cubed.
Corn – We typically use frozen corn for this recipe that has been thawed but you can definitely use canned corn. An 8 oz. can or corn is about 60 cents to $1.00.
What Other Ingredients Could I add to this Recipe? You could add 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese at the end of the cooking time for a creamier rice. Or, stir in some heavy cream and Parmesan cheese – yum. Add diced red pepper in the with the corn and ham while it’s sauteing. Cook some onion in a small amount of butter before adding the ham and corn.
Our Delicious Recipe of White Rice Cooked with Corn and Bits of Ham
- 2 tablespoons butter
- salt and pepper
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 cup yellow corn
- 2 cups Minute Rice
- 2 cups chicken broth

Using a large skillet with a lid, saute corn and ham in butter for about 3 mintes. Lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Add the Minute Rice to the skillet and stir for about 1-2 minutes.

Pour the chicken broth to pan; stir and bring to a light boil.

Cover; remove from heat and let sit for about 6 minutes.

Fluff with a fork and serve.
