Eat More Radishes in your Salads!

Eat more radishes for better health!

We love radishes because they are loaded with vitamin C and full of fiber. We always add them to our green salads to get that extra kick of “keep you full” fiber and for all the extra nutrients you get with very little effort. One big radish only has about 1 calorie! It actually takes more calories to eat a radish than is IN a radish.

The radish is a cruciferous vegetable and packed with antioxidants.

Stay Healthy. Eat more Cruciferous!

Small changes can really make a big difference in your health. Sneaking vegetables into our own foods really adds up when you do it at each meal. We all know that for better health – eat more vegetables!

There are so many ways to dress up a simple salad that brings tons of health benefits. Even if radishes aren’t your cup of tea, we will show you how to sneak them into your salads by cutting them into tasty little matchsticks.

– Radishes help to clean up our digestive system, helping to rid our bodies of toxins.

– Radishes have a high water content and can help keep your body hydrated on those hot summer days.

How to Store Fresh Radishes

– From Field to Salad Bowl

Radishes should be firm and crisp with a nice bright skin. To store, simply cut the top green leaves off and wash radish well under cold water. Keep in a “breathable”  container for about 10 days.

We like to keep a few days supply of “ready-to-go” sliced radishes for our salads.

Healthy Sliced Radishes

Salad Ready Radishes

Slice the clean radishes into matchsticks by first cutting the radish into thin slices. Then slicing the thin slices into lots of thin slices.  Once you mastered how to do this, stack thin slices of radishes on top of each other (about 4 or 5) and slice the same way only through all of the radish slices. (Make Sense?)

Put your matchstick radishes in a container of cold water and store in the refrigerator.  These radishes will be fresh and ready to use on your salads.
