It’s a simple lettuce salad recipe that everyone including the kiddos will love!
Sometimes it’s hard to eat 5-9 servings of fruit per day, but if you get into the habit of adding fruits to your green salad, it becomes much easier to do.
There are many delicious ways to get more fruit into our diets and tossing our favorites in a green tossed salad is often overlooked.
- Start with fresh green lettuce like Romaine or leaf lettuce. You can even purchase bags of lettuce to make your green salads even quicker.
- Add fruits like mixed berries, halved grapes, sliced pineapple rings, and delicious red cherries.
- Toss the fruit in with the green lettuce and sprinkle with chopped pecans, walnuts or peanuts.
Of course you can use your favorite salad dressing, but if you are making this beautiful salad for a party or guests, add a bottle of Catalina or French dressings to the table. This is our favorite dressing to go with this flavorful salad.
FRESH OR FROZEN FRUIT?
- We prefer to use fresh fruits in our salad, but if fresh is not available then thaw some frozen berries and add whatever fresh you have available.
We like to cut whole pineapple rings into chunks to use in the salad vs. pineapple tidbits. The pineapple is a little more tender and juicy. Give it a try!
