Sweet Potatoes with Cream and Parmesan Cheese – A Side Dish of Delicious Scalloped Sweet Gratin
While we do love the traditional mashed sweet potatoes and marshmallows, we do like to change things up a bit with this delicious sweet potatoes and cream recipe that is perfect for a fancy meal or any holiday dinner.
Peel and slice the sweet potatoes and then layer them with a little cream and butter. Spices add a nice hint of flavor while the Parmesan cheese rounds out the recipe.
Once you have the sweet potatoes peeled and sliced, this recipe goes together easily and without much effort.

- 2 tablespoons butter, divided
- 2 lbs. sweet potatoes, about 3 - peeled and sliced
- 1/2 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1/2 tablespoon dried thyme
- salt and pepper
- 1-1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded Parmigiano-Reggiano
- 1/2 tablespoon dried parsley

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Grease a 2-quart baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter.

Arrange half of the potato slices in a single layer on the bottom of the baking dish.

Pour half of the cream over the potatoes.

Sprinkle with a little rosemary, thyme, salt and pepper. Dot with remaining butter.

Sprinkle with half of the cheese.

Repeat with the remaining potatoes, spices, cream and cheese. Sprinkle with parsley.

Cover and place in the oven and bake for about 25 minutes, uncover and continue to bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the potatoes are fork tender.
