We always have a package of Aidells Smoked Chicken Sausage on hand to perk up vegetables and give them just a little bit of added flavor. You don’t need a lot of sausage, one link works fine and gives the dish enough flavor without a ton of calories.
What Type of Apple to Use for This Yummy Kale Recipe?
Use a green granny smith apple. Granny Smith apples have a ton of antioxidants and a nice tart taste that works well with the kale and sausage.

Healthy Sauteed Kale with Sausage and Apples is a great way to get your family to fall in love with Kale!
- 4 cups kale cleaned and cut into small pieces
- 1 tablespoon onion
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 sausage link cut into small pieces
- 1 granny smith apple peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- salt & pepper

Using a medium skillet with a lid, cook onion in oil until it starts to get tender.

Add sausage and apple pieces to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute.

Add kale to the skillet and saute for about 2 minutes adding just a little bit of broth.

Salt and pepper to taste.

Add the rest of the broth; turn up heat for about 30 seconds and cover.

Turn the heat high enough to get some steam going but then turn it back down.

Let cook gently for about 4-5 minutes. Add a little more broth if necessary.
