Easy Pepperoni Pizza Mac and Cheese Recipe
This is the perfect dinner when you just can’t decide. This dish is just like eating creamy macaroni and cheese and pepperoni pizza at the same time! Problem solved! Comfort food at its best. Comfort food fusion.

Ingredients Needed for Pepperoni Pizza Mac and Cheese
- 10 oz. penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 3 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated
- 5 oz. fontina cheese, freshly grated and divided
- 1 cup Marinara sauce (jarred or homemade) make your own easy Marinara Tomato Sauce
- 3 oz pepperoni slices
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
- salt and black pepper, to taste
How to Make Easy Pepperoni Pizza Mac and Cheese
Mac and cheese is simply learning how to make a great Balsamella Sauce – Easy White Sauce
1. Preheat the oven to 400° F.
2. While oven is preheating, heat a large pot of lightly salted water over high heat and prepare the pasta according to package directions, cooking 1-2 minutes less than al dente. (Pasta will continue to cook during baking).
3. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add in the onion and season to taste with salt and pepper. Sauté, stirring occasionally, until the onion becomes soft and translucent, approximately 3-4 minutes.
4. Sprinkle flour over the onion and cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes.
5. While stirring constantly, slowly stream the milk and cream into the onion and flour mixture. Let the milk come to a gentle simmer and continue cooking and stirring until the béchamel begins to thicken, approximately 3-4 minutes.
6. Stir in the Italian seasoning, cheddar, and one-half of the fontina cheese.
7. Continue cooking and stirring until the cheeses melt.
8. Drain the cooked pasta and combine with the cheesy sauce.
9. Pour pasta with sauce into a 9 x 9 casserole dish. Top with marinara, pepperoni slices, and reserved fontina.
10. Place casserole dish in the oven and bake until the cheese is all melted and bubbly, 15-20 minutes. Enjoy!
