Crock Pot Mulled Apple Cider Recipe for the Holidays

The “twist” with this mulled apple cider recipe is the addition of five-spice powder, rather than classic pumpkin pie spices. It adds a little something special to an already great tasting combination.

Crock Pot Mulled Apple Cider
Serves: 4-6
- 1/2 gallon fresh apple cider
- 1 medium organic orange, sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 3 whole cinnamon sticks
- 10-15 whole cloves
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons five-spice powder
Optional garnish:
Fresh orange slices

- Add all ingredients to a slow cooker crock and stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-7. When finished, remove and discard cinnamon sticks and cooked orange slices.
- Ladle warm cider into large mugs and serve with additional orange slices and fresh cinnamon sticks, if desired.

How to Make Your Own Quick Cider –
Wash a dozen apples and place in a large pot. Add enough water to cover apples by at least 2-3 inches. add 3/4 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon ground allspice. Bring to a boil.
Boil, uncovered, for 1 hour.
Strain apple mixture though a fine mesh sieve.
