What Ingredients do I need For Split Pea Soup?

  • Dried split green peas – buy in bulk to save even more money. Store in an airtight container.
  • Beef or chicken broth – can use vegetable broth for a vegan soup
  • Diced ham
  • Carrots
  • Cloves garlic
  • Onion
  • Dried thyme

Wash the peas and pick out any hard pieces or rocks. Store any leftover green peas in an airtight container and they will last a very long time. Dried split green peas are nice to have in your pantry to make this delicious soup – so always keep enough on hand and you will have a healthy dinner in no time.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups dried split green peas, cleaned and picked through
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
Instructions
  1. Add everything to the Instant Pot and gently stir.

  2. Seal the lid and turn the knob to the "SEALING" position.

  3. Push the "PRESSURE COOK" button and set time for 16 minutes.

  4. Once it is finished cooking, let sit in the pot for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, do a quick release. Stir and serve!
