How to Cook Easy Sunny Side Up Eggs for a Delicious Breakfast

Start with Choosing the Perfect Egg

Everyone has their idea of the perfect fried egg. Whether it’s over easy or sunny side up, all fried eggs start with an egg and a skillet. The first step of course is how to buy the best eggs at the store.  Learn how to find your way around eggs labels so you can get the most nutritious eggs for your breakfast table.  Always choose carefully for eggs that won’t be fully cooked.

Choosing the Perfect Skillet

Every cook should own one high quality skillet that can be used to fry eggs, bacon, and sausage    Choose a good non-stick skillet with a heavy bottom that not only will retain the heat better but also distributes heat evenly.  A heavy bottomed skillet also reduces the chance of burnt food. What type of Fat to Use to Cook your Eggs?

To add flavor and reduce the chances of the eggs sticking to the pan, melt a little bit of butter along with oil in your frying pan.  Any type of oil will work from a good coconut oil to a light canola oil.  Don’t use olive oil for fried eggs.

Ingredients Needed for Eggs:

  • 2 Large Eggs – organic eggs works best for this
  • 1/2 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt & pepper

Do You Flip These Eggs?

No, you do not flip sunny side up eggs.  The yolk is cooked to your liking by a light steam when covered with a large lid.  You can also cook sunny side up eggs without using a lid. First make sure the non-stick skillet is preheated.  Add a little butter or oil to the pan. Gently crack eggs into the skillet and lightly salt & pepper. Keep the stove heat low so not to burn the egg whites.  Cook the eggs until the egg whites are fully set, yet the yellow yolks are still runny.  This should take about 3-4 minutes.

Why We Love Sunny Side Up Eggs:

The yolk of the egg is very flavorful and it’s extra delicious when you dip your buttered toast into the warm yolk.
