Why We LOVE Ham and Cheese Sliders
We love the mini size that allows for a quick lunch or appetizer. The combination of warm, melted cheese with savory ham is a winning combination. When sliders are baked, the cheese becomes gooey and the flavors meld together, creating a satisfying and comforting experience in every bite.
How to Make Ham and Cheese Sliders
- Slice the slider rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected as a single unit.
- Place the bottom half of the slider rolls in a baking dish.
- Layer the Emmental (Swiss) cheese slices evenly over the bottom rolls. Then layer the sliced ham evenly over the cheese slices.
- Brush a thin layer of mayonnaise on top half of the slider rolls.
- Place the top half of the slider rolls over the ham to form a sandwich.
- In a bowl, whisk together melted butter, Dijon mustard, honey, poppy seeds (if using), Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Brush the butter mixture evenly over the sliders.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sliders are heated through. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
- If you like, you can remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to allow the tops to get slightly crispy.
Layer the cheese on the bottoms of the rolls. Then place your ham on top of the cheese. Don’t forget a touch of mayo.
Yum, the basting butter sauce is so yummy. You just can’t eat a ham and cheese slider without the buttery toppings.

What is Emmental Cheese?
Fun Fact! Emmental cheese, also known as Emmentaler, is a Swiss cheese that is famous for its characteristic holes (or “eyes”) and distinctive flavor. It is one of the oldest and most traditional Swiss cheeses, dating back to the medieval times. Emmental is named after the Emmental region in the canton of Bern, Switzerland, where it originated. If you can’t find this cheese then just substitute with Swiss cheese.
