Easy & Healthy Fried Turkey Patties with Garlic Mushroom Gravy Recipe
Have you ever looked at those packages of pre-formed turkey patties at the grocery store and wondered what you could make for dinner with them? Something about those patties just looks easy… convenient.
Pre-formed turkey patties are what we like to call “convenience foods.” They are simple to prepare because all you really need to do is season the patties and then drop them in a skillet and fry.
Here is one super-delicious and healthy way to prepare turkey patties by first doing a healthy-fry and then adding a yummy garlic mushroom gravy.
Healthy fry means to fry the turkey patties using just a little oil to get a crispy outer crust, and then finish off the cooking with a little bit of chicken broth.

Use a healthy fry method for these turkey patties and save on fat and calories.
- 4 pre-formed turkey patties (We love Honeysuckle)
- salt & pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped fine
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 (8 oz.) package mushrooms, sliced We use White Button
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
- 2 cups chicken broth, divided
-
Heat 1/2 of the oil in a frying pan with a lid. Season both sides of the turkey patties lightly with salt, pepper and onion powder.
-
Add patties to the pan and cook on both sides until well browned. Add about 2 tablespoons of chicken broth to the pan; cover and cook on medium for about 4-5 minutes.
-
Remove patties to a plate.
-
Add the rest of the oil to the skillet along with the mushrooms and garlic. Cook and stir with a spatula for about 3-4 minutes. Lightly salt and pepper mushrooms after a few minutes of cooking.
-
Slowly add 2 tablespoons of chicken broth to help cook the mushrooms.
-
Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir to coat.
-
Pour in the remaining chicken broth (1-1/2 cups) and the mustard and thyme; stir to combine.
-
Add the patties back to the pan and let simmer for about 3-4 minutes.
Sauté the mushrooms and garlic together in a little oil and then a little chicken broth. Using less oil means less fat and calories.
