New York Strip Steak with Heavenly Creamy Mushroom Steak Sauce

STRIP STEAK PREPARED WITH A HEAVENLY STEAK SAUCE

This is great recipe that can be prepared quickly.  The fresh mushroom steak sauce is heavenly and goes perfectly with the New York Strip Steak. 

STRIP STEAK & STEAK SAUCE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

2 New York Strip Steaks
Salt & Pepper

SAUCE:

8 oz. fresh sliced mushrooms
2 tablespoons butter
1 small onion - minced
1 - 2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup Marsala Wine 
1 1/2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon basil

DIRECTIONS:

Rinse steaks in cold water and pat dry.  Lightly sprinkle with salt & pepper and let sit at room temperature until sauce is almost complete.

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in medium sauce pan.  Add mushrooms and onions and saute until mushrooms are tender.  Add garlic, salt & pepper stirring again for about 1 minute.  Sprinkle flour over mushroom mixture and stir through. Add wine and stir to blend.  Simmer for about 1 minute. Add tomato paste and stir through again.  Add milk and spices and stir until blended. Let simmer for 1 more minute.

Place New York Strip steaks in broiler pan and broil for 4-5 minutes per side. Thicker steaks for about 7-8 minutes per side.  Remove when done and keep warm until ready to serve.

Serve immediately.

* Sprinkle New York Strip Steaks with dried parsley for a beautiful presentation.
