Here is a great example of a healthy family meal that is quick and delicious!

Spaghetti & Meatballs for a delicious family meal that you can feel good about when you serve to your family!  Serve over whole wheat pasta and a spinach salad on the side!

This is also a great meal to prepare when you don't have a lot of time to cook.  It is simple and quick to get on the dinner table.

1-1/4 lb. ground turkey (we use Jennie-O)
1/4 cup Italian Style bread crumbs
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 Tbsp. dried parsley
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 egg
2-3 Tbsp. low fat milk
1/4 cup shredded Romano cheese

1/2 Tbsp. canola oil
1 small onion, diced
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 (28 oz.) can of crushed tomatoes in light puree
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1/4 cup water
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. onion salt

In a medium bowl, mix together bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, parsley, salt, and pepper until well blended.  Add egg and milk and mix through breadcrumb mixture.  Add cheese and ground turkey and mix through using your hands.

Make 16 small meatballs and lay on a piece of waxed paper.

In a large skillet with a lid, sauté onion and garlic in oil over very low heat until tender.  Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, sugar, and onion salt.  Stir and bring to a light boil.  Add meatballs in a single layer on top of sauce.  Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes.  Stir meatballs once during cooking.  Uncover and stir lightly;  simmer for an additional 10 minutes to thicken sauce, if desired.
